...in many shapes and sizes, I suppose.
Sorry, just feeling a little disappointed that I overheard people I really like talking trash about "city folks"... well, I'm a "city folk" and I am not dirty, noisy, heedless, stupid, inconsiderate, a car thief, or image-conscious to any degree... but I've been lumped in, sure enough, as if I was all those things. Because I'm a "city folk," don't you know.
I was raised by good honest country people and have held on to that morality as hard as I can. So I don't think my locale is a cause to look at me with contempt.... shish, this was hard to type without swearing a blue streak.
:)

Ah, as you say, you were raised country, with country values to carry you in good stead while living in town... WHY would you want to do that anyway??? Ive lived in St Joe Mo 2 yrs and in Tulsa 1 year and HATED it. I would suppose they were talking about people born and raised city, never having any country roots to balance them

I didnít know it made a difference as to where one lived to make idiotic comments around here. So what if I happen to live where I have the golden opportunity to make so many ladies happy my filling their daily dance cards in these wide open spaces. It might have been the female to male ratio that had decided my domesticated homesteading here. It might have been allure of daily female company. It might have been for no other reason than I didnít know any better. Regardless where anyone lives, it is what is in their hearts that is precious to the rest of us. That is my take on having been given an opportunity to live a wonder filled life, be my neighbor be but a wallís division away, or a quarter mile.

Geeze, and all the time I thought you was one of us. Just goes to show, Ya nevah know who's passing themselves off as country. That's a rotten trick, Mel, you shuda tole us youseah slicker.

Do you think this might be what was meant by the saying; "you can take the girl to the city but you can't get her to drink"? Er, does that have something to do with hosses? Forget about it, you've been here so long now, we couldn't throw you out anyway. Heck, you are family. And, ya can't throw family out. So, there........gfp

Mel. Mel. Mel. I think you need a memery check. Being city or country isn't nessarly a matter of location. It's more a state of mind and whare your heart is.

~Lenore    Posted 10-21-2004 at 15:17:25       [Reply]  [No Email]
Well bless your heart. Miss Melanie, didn't anyone warn you to wear hip waders when you are on this site?!!

I am sure those who said those things, specially "the ones you really like" were only referring to those city folks who fit the discription and not to you. LOL

By the way I am city girl, too.

toolman    Posted 10-21-2004 at 16:25:04       [Reply]  [No Email]
i didn,t know it was on this site, sure hope it wasn,t something i said, course i never say much so it couldn,t a been huh?lol

Mel I've been corresponding with you for a long time. And now I find you're "City Trash??!!" For shame!

You know I'm teasing you, ya sweetie. I didn't know until now that you lived in the city. I knew you work in an office in town (city?) but didn't know where you lived. I'm sure you would have told me if I'd asked but I never bothered to ask as I really didn't think it mattered either way.

Go out for one of yer famous 3-foot ceegars and take a smoke break. Calm down and then come back in and give me a good cussin on the other site. That'll make you feel better.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I was raised by one Martian (mom) and one Plutonian (pop). I am only image concious when people look at me and ask "what planet are you from?" :^)

Don't let 'em get to you. As toolman said, you can't control what others say. Only thing you can do is call them on the carpet for it like you did. Though I doubt there was any ill-will intended.

- Peanut, who is off to steal a car, take a bath cuz I'm dirty, dumb as a box of hammers, and too darn LOUD

toolman    Posted 10-21-2004 at 13:46:27       [Reply]  [No Email]
good and bad everywhere country or city , besides i know your not a car thief, cause you would of stole something better than you got so you wouldn,t have to worry about it getting you home from work lol.it,s hard i know but you can,t let what other people say get to you , you can,t control them only yourself, and you seem pretty decent so don,t sweat it.

LMAO!!!! Yeah, well, my Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Front Yard Paperweight can't make me swear, so I better not get all hormonal about this stuff either.

I hadn't realized that "city" folk had a monopoly on all the bad things you mentioned... perhaps I should get out more, and have a look-see....nothing like broadening my horizons....my wife was raised in the "city"...now she wouldn't go back for the world, and not because of the reasons mentioned.....surely do hope there was none of my retoric that made you concerned..... have a gooder, from a country boy, R.E.L.

Oh ,I dont know why she got insulted about my big city cousins. One died of TB from time in jails. One walked down a freeway at night untill a truck ran over him. They was raised in the big city and died there. When they came to the country they called us hayseeds and we were not cool. Those two are cool now.One went to the show with us when we were about ten or twelve years old,He took our baked sweet potatoes and throwed them at the owner of the show.Good thing it was dark in there because we could have been in trouble. The showman had been hit by a baked sweet potato.
