...trying to get my car transferred on my name.
Took us all day and we're still not finished and have to go back on monday.
I bought the car from a Dutch friend who left PR. I never bothered to transfer the license untill I was stopped by the police the other week. The officer told me that he would have to impound my car and a $ 800 fine would be my share.. When I explained him that I didn't know how to get the title tranferred he showed mercy and ordered a tow truck to get me and my car home. He told me I couldn't drive the the car untill I had a new inspection sticker and wished me a nice day. Not bad.. Then the tow truck guys wanted $ 80 to bring me home and I told them I only had $ 30.. They said O.K. we tow you for a couple of miles, let you go and take your $ 30. So far so good..

Anyway, I thought it might be a good idea to finally get the thing organized, so today I took the day off to get it organized.. First we went to the DMV, waited, got a bunch of papers. Next we had to go to a lawyer, waited, got the sworn statement. Went back to the DMV, waited, got another bunch of papers. From there we had to pay all kind of stuff, waited, payed the stuff. Back to the DMV offce, wait, get more papers. From there we drove back home, took the car to an inspection station where, according to the sign, the car would be inspected thouroughly. Well, the guy tested my exhaust emission on his computer test system, the car passed and he gave me a test certificate.
Back to the DMV, waiting again, bunch of papers and stamps. To the payment teller, pay more money, back to the DMV and finally I got a tempory license for the weekend and have to come back on monday to show the car and get another inspection.
When the car passes that inspection I will hopefully get my title and license..

By then it will have cost me a couple of hundred dollars, not taken in account the two days of income loss..

I hate days like this...

You had me worrying for a while with your first 'shot' post...
I told Patria before I went to sleep yesterday and since she didn't wake me up, I figured you were sort of all right lol

Gerrit I've often wondered if Toolman is, or ever has been, "sort of all right."

Sorry Toolman but Gerrit set it up so well, even if he didn't mean to, that I just couldn't resist.

Please don't hit me - I'm a little guy.
