what effects does this have on calves

i try never to feed moldy hay to anything , your just asking for trouble , cows can tolerate it better than horses and some other animals but i wouldn,t include calves in that group as cows, throw it away loose a calve or vet bills will offset the cost of the hay in a hurry.

I agree with Willy. You will/can have all sorts of problems if you feed it to them. Sometimes they won't even eat it. Moldy feed has killed my chickens too!

A Rancher I know put some hay up in those long tubes and it molded he must have lost 10 cows befor he got it under control! All depends on the type of mold and how much. Mark H.
