What is the best way to kill barn pigeons?

Around here there is a guy that buys pigeons by the hundreds give 2-4 dollars a piece for them to train bird dogs with.

i trap pigeons, and I'm trying to find out who buys pigeons to sell to gun club etc. I can sell somewhere between 4 and 6 thousand birds a month.

soak some grain in vodka over night in an old jar. Take the grain out and scatter it around for the pigeons. It will take about three or four minutes for the alcohol to take effect. First they wobble on their perch, then they hang up side down, aq minute or two later they fall to the ground. They are dead of alcohol poisoning in about six minutes.

Hi Bob

I have the same problem (pigeons, that is). They are pooping all over everything in the barn.

I bought a couple of boxes of .22 shells with the birdshot in them. I figgered that using the 12 ga. would be a bad idea - BLAM! - I could see feathers and slate erupting from the roof of the barn - bad idea. I thought the .22 shells would do the job. They didn't. I fired about 20 rounds point blank into the little buggers, and all it did was frustrate me. Every time I shot one of them they would commence to flap around the barn. Then they got wise, and quit cooing. One of them was ducking his (or her) head in aond out of a hole in the roof, peeking at me and pulling back right away.

I don't know, but I am ready to get the 12 ga. out, and to heck with the roof. It needs to be replaced anyway.

I always heard the crushed up Alka Selzer, instant rice, things that swell when wet, work good on birds. Or try crushed rat poison in with chicken feed. As long as your birds can't get to it.
