Coming into our driveway a few days ago I saw one of the flexible plastic tubes that go over the end of a downspout way out in the yard. Also noticed something brown and white. By the time I had parked I had a sick feeling in my stomach. Ran down to tube and got even sicker. There was one of the neighbors beagles with his head stuck in the tube. Dead !! I called them and the missus came up to get him. She was pretty broken up. All of their animals seem to be pets. I thought at first the poor thing struggled so hard he had a heart attack. Picked up the tube to take back up the barn and a dead rabbit slid out. Looks like they were in there facing each other and just suffocated. Still bothering me today.

reminds me of the young lady in one of my classes. Her father milks cows for a living, as did his father and his-I asked what color cows did her daddy milked, knowing they were holstein and for the life of her she could not answer. This poor 15 year old apparently never has been to the milk parlor and her father who is a traditional agriculturalist has never had her milk, feed, clean the parlor, etc. so sad.

Jim, Beagles are amazing critters. When they get on a rabbit, nothing else matters. I had one to run a rabbit till the hare cut across the road and the poor dog ran into a car. A friend's Beagle was running a rabbit down the RR tracks and.....you guessed it...ran into an oncoming locomotive. They are dedicated to running the rabbits.
