..but I'm getting that same feeling I got before the turn of the century. Remember all the hooplah over Y2K?

And I gotta tell you, I don't appreciate it much. I do not appreciate being made to feel a sense of impending doom, especially over something as routine as a presidential election.

And lemme tell you something else. The culprit is the media. I am sick to death of them playing on my emotions and trying to get me riled up to suit them. It's like living with a menopausal, spinster aunt who is never happy unless there is turmoil.

I for one am not going to fall victim to it. I could feel it coming on last night.

"What if this happens? What if that happens? What if what if what if what if...what if the damned sky is falling!!??"

I'm not participating this time. They can appeal to someone else's sense of hysteria. I will stick to my own hysterias until this is over.

that's the best way not to fall for it is not watching it.

You aint missing much. One minute they're reporting on terrorist to skeer ye then they run a commercial of King George saying with him at the helm there's nothing to be skeered of. He's a compassionate fearless leader who will protect ever body except wimmin, men, children, blacks, and whites.

I don't know where all the ratwings doomsday folks around here are coming up with their paranoia unless they're fibbing to us and are actually watching Dan Rather.

I wish there were a way to really send a message to the "media" to stop treating most of us like babies. While I realize that sensationalism gets the ratings, By 9-14-01 I was sooooo sick of the idiotic sound bites and repetitious interviews with officials saying they don't know squat. Let me know when you really have something new. I really don't care to have the airwaves bolluxed constantly with urgent news updates that maybe the police or fire officials still don't know jack. Like when Lady Di kicked. Yeah, I guess she was a nice lady. She didn't mean a darn thing to me and constant bombardment of the minute funeral details and what the Price may say and when, was jes' plain stupid.
Just like when we get a heavy frost or some intense flurries around here, the stupid news folks are out interviewing store managers about the bread, milk and TP supplies, before the first flake. The only real flakes are the reporters, producers and directors of such dribble.
Recently, a group of folks started complaining to a local radio station's sponsors about the evening drive show, and it's format. The show actually was changed. One announcer even axed.

I agree Cindi.
People who listen to the liberal media and take what they say as truth have reason to FEAR.
I do not listen to them any more, when they come on I switch to the Food network or H&G TV.

I do watch local news for 30 mins until they start preaching politics, then I switch to one of the other three local news stations.

Anyone one who does not believe the networks have an agenda probably think that child really is Tony Blair or Colin Powell* LOL

*See "A Kerry Funny" above.

Unemployment is slightly below 5.4 % lower than it was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s!!

it's not all the media's fault. the two political parties, through ads, and mainly on TV are engaged in a war of terriorism all their own. they are waging a war of "lets scare the bejeebers outa the common folk". scare and doom tactical campaigning it is.

My point exactly.

Life's too short.

That's why most nights when I'm at home, I turn off the TV and listen to music on the satellite.
Dish channels 6086, 6037 and 6035.

We were watching an old John Wayne movie the other day - made in 1935. John was in a fight scene and was throwing some real roundhouse punches when he "hit" so hard he spun himself completely around. His gunbelt, however, stayed in the same place and he had to grab it and pull it around. It was hilarious to watch him spin inside of his gunbelt.

Then there was the scene where he supposedly drops a loop down on a bad guy from the loft of a barn. The bad guy was on the ground looking for John. He kept looking when the loop dropped over him, pretending not to notice it - although he had to move his arms and hands to get them up out of the loop so it could drop on down to his ankles. Funny!

but it sure gives some relief in these muddied up times. I am starting to wonder what normal will be like after the election, if it ever does get back there, which I doubt

And what if.......    Posted 10-29-2004 at 04:40:34       [Reply]  [No Email]
