Woodpeckers

Today I went to split some wood for the friend of a friend. At this persons home I noticed holes bored into various spots on the stucco walls. I asked this person what is this all about. He told me it was the woodpeckers. I kinda laughed when he told me.
As I got working away low & behold there was a large woodpecker hammering away at the stucco wall. Not only are they going thru the stucco but into the styrofoam instalation. The house is deep in the bush, plenty of good food around for them.
I have never seen this in all my years. Has anybody else???

it's either after bugs in the stucco or some in the foam. stucco should be 3 coats (scratch cote, brown cote & color cote (okay for spanish, snot is 4th layer) averaging 7/8" thick. how did a bird get thru it? not enough cement? too much clay?

i think they are after bugs, they ate a hole in our sign this summer, they get on the roof and pick away at the shingles worst is at dawn when they get on the metal chimmney and start.

Toolman, if you're plagued by woodpeckers, don't do like that cartoon bear that went after them with a shotgun. Remember that one? He emptied so many rounds in the roof of his cabin, he could sit by the fire and count stars in the sky.

are you related to my wife she said about the same thing to me, you see me and my shotgun are never far apart out here and i use it just like a tool, sometimes too much, someday i,ll have to tell you the story about something that happened a couple nights after we were married lol.

Knew a fellow that had this problem so he put up an owl decoy. I believe it worked for him.
