I am looking to move to a small town to raise my 2 kids, 1 & 2 years. We now live in Orange County, CA & the real estate prices are sky high! (550,000) I am thinking of Colorado, Oregan, Washington...I am looking for places or websites where I can find "hometown" style living, like Bedford Falls! I am looking for family friendly areas with: parks, NICE PEOPLE, country stores and picture book scenery! Help.

Kansas City. Centrally located, Ozarks two hours away with plenty of outdoor activity, Kansas and Missouri went Blue. Missouri has the edge as they just elected a Republican Govenor, and the House and Senate belong to the Rebublicans.

Kansas and Missouri went RED, thank you.

I spent 18 years in Orange County and left in the 70s it sure has gone down hill since. Don't blame you for wanting to move. I still have family down there too! Try Washington I did in 1973 and never left. Great place to live just don't tell anymore about the place when you leave. Thanks, Mark H.

we were in so cal for 30 year but finally admitted it's for younger people and retired in mn. country living can be as laid back or vibrant as you make it. alot of dirt can be eliminated by defining your personal temperature extremes, budgetary expectations, school, church, shopping limitations, heritage, health and sanity level..trees, bugs,i.e: what do YOU want?

when you've found a place, remember the customs may differ- for example, you might br proud of a dog that guards your turf, whereas the neighbors traditionally kill things that harass their game or stock. or you might be proud of your new fence, but it might be a "stay away" notice to others. the rules always vary, ask around. :)

I was in a little town in north arkansas last month, Buffalo Gap I think it was. In the Ozarks, beautiful scenery. There was a store/gas station for sale there. Nice place to live I think, the store was the only one in town. OPPORTUNITY!!!!!

If you can stand the cold weather. Impossible to say unless one knows the financial and educational status of person looking for change. There are thousands of nice towns to live in across the states, most of the time it depends on can I make a living there.
