let's see, we still need oh, cordless IVs for hospitals, grenades that run uphill, pull their own pin and toss themselves (why not incorporate a polygraph? the thing goes off at the first sign of dishonesty - you'd have the enemy pouring out of trenches, ready to confess anything :) a self-cooking frozen meal would sure be handy. how bout living toilet paper that replenishes itself? we need cars that take you to town without human input, like they land 747s. we need wipers that fit windshields. we need a warm inflatable that begs to get peeled like a grape. might as well have a flowerpot attachment so the missus can enjoy it too. :). fast food places need handy vacuum chambers, so they can sell huge inflated diet burgers/malts. and we still need cars with 3 feet of nerf all around so we can relax and afford to crash a few times on the road. that oughta stir some wheels. ::::)

When I read about "smart dust" I was just amazed. It is being developed for the army. Little computerized nanobots that can be airdropped over a region, they set up their own computerized net work and send out signals whenever disturbed by vibrations. (Like micro sized motion detectors) So even in the desert, these little spy machines send out signals when and where something is walking by. They last for two years or more.
I remember in the sixties, those wrist watch two way, tv sets in the Dick tracey comics, Now we have the cell phones with picture capacity.
About five years ago, I read about a roll up film used for roofing, that is actually a system of solar electric cells, so your roof can help power your house. I've been thinking about installing some wind power generators on top the hill over looking my house. Even if the power is not stored but used immediately to heat water,
We now have hand held computers more sophisticated than the computers on board the space exploration missions of ten years ago. Why not put a radar system in cars which will activate the brakes as we come up on some other cars rear end. How about a powerful micro wave that will cause metal to heat up to the point that ammunition will explode. We just aim it a Falluja and the insurgent's bullets all explode.

Morning, DC, James...the self cooking, or at least, self heating meals are more than possible, tho may be cost prohibitive. Cars that drive themselves are also possible, but, again are cost prohibitive, at least at this point in time. All the technology is there if put together in a usable form, ie, proximity sensors for vehicles are already in use as backup aids, all that is necessary is an implanted "guidline" in the roadway with all the pertanant imformation to be read by the vehicles computer, that has been preprogramed before hand as to destination....much like "delivery vehicles" in larger warehouses and office buildings that traverse a predetermined "path", marked on the floor or on the cieling. As to the other ideas; on the grenade thing...I would dearly love to see a coyote seeking missile developed, I suppose a grenade, as you discribe, would work just as well...

have a good one, R.E.L.

the only problem I see is that them lie dectector grenades might have a boomerang quirk.

I bet if you pulled the pin and throw it in the Whitehouse window it would just float around. It would be too hard to find the lyingest target.
