A friend of mine is thinking about planting an acre or so of sweet corn but he is having some trouble coming up with a way of planting other then by hand. Anyone have a source for a small planter suitable for his needs. He's got one of them new fangled orange tractors in the 45 hp range.

I have a small Ford 2 roll corn plantert that a tractor grave yard owner gave me to get it out of the way. He had a $25 price tag on it. Needed paint but worked great. Its a 3 pt. I use on my Ford 850. Works great.

Are they that easy to find out your way? Local equipment dealer had an auction last weekend. He had three two row planters all JD's two of them were in fairly rough shape, one was pretty nice. Both of the rough ones went for over $800.00. Didn't hang around to see what the nice one went for. Called all over the place around here most everyone wishes us good luck. Next stop across the border to Canada.

Here in Wisconsin you can pick up a nice JD four row plate-less planter(1240) for around $300.00.
