It's a biitersweet day, today. My wife and I sold 40 acres near Uitca, Ok., to her brother last night, the same 40 we bought from him three years ago.

Never would have sold it, but, of all things a motocross track build DIRECTLY across the dirt road from us. So it was sell it, or put up with lights bright enough to land jet airplanes by, music so loud it hurt your ears a 1/4 mile away, engines roaring, beer bottles up and down the road, smashed mail box existience..... I'll miss my ground it.....

That's why we haven't built a house on our place. A guy bought the property to the west of us and says he's going to put in a motocross track when the land goes out of CRP in 07. That would be about a quarter mile from where we want to build. We are in a wait and see mode as he has a reputation for never finishing anything he starts.

My hope is your neighbor nevers buids that MX track by you, or anyone else for that matter. The out of state people that built the one by us, destroyed paradise as for as I'm concerned. My prayers are with you.

Oh, that's too bad! Good thing you were not living on it already. A friend of a friend bought a small farm in the country, just an orchard and room for some livestock. Beautiful place. Next year, a motocross type place went in over the hill, the sound echos and it destroys his peace. I have friends living in the country around Garberville in Humboldt County, CA. All summer long, and into the fall the police helicpoters buzz the farms looking for marijuana.

That would be depressing to have happen. When I bought my place I made sure I bought the veiw also but it would be hard to control what happen to you. I would be totaly bummed if a race track moved in by me. Mark H.

Yup, understand the bittersweet thing, where we used to live in lower Alabama (now live in West Virginia) the county put a land fill butt up against our back 40. They were doing illegal dumping of medical waste and all kind of nasty stuff, so we sold our place to the county, because our place was the only way they could expand and I sure didn't want any one else living around that.

what are your plans terry? going to get another patch of ground?

Terry O    Posted 12-01-2004 at 08:50:10       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yeah, we're going to try to buy something else, somewhere else. I hope it's not too late, as prices have skyrocketed!

Wish I knew a way to foresee if a high voltage powerline, racetrack, garbage dump, super wally world, etc., would pop up near our next place.
