Hi. We are looking for a dairy cow, heifer or bottle calf, prefer Jersey, Dutch Belted or Brown Swiss or cross of such. Prefer in Missouri or surrounding states if at all possible but will travel farther for the right one.
Thanks in advance!

Are are there any dairy farms in your area that have Jerseys? If you talk to the farmer, you can ask him if he ever culls first fresheners who are not producing up to his standards. They usually do, and they usually sell them for a little more than the going price for hamburger. (These cows usually end up at the auction). Friends who have had Brown Swiss claim that they have a tendency to be very stubborn, and not as easy to deal with as other breeds....and they are huge. Most of the first freshener cows are healthy, and they may not produce enough for a commercial operation, but more than enough for a family. The national Jersey club can provide you with a list of members in your area.
