Ruger still makes the 99/44 Deerfield carbine. It lists @ $675. It is now comes with a four round clip instead of the barrel mag.. I have used the 44 for deer hunting for many years and don't want to use any other gun. Can't beat it for working the brush country.

Um...    Posted 12-02-2004 at 14:06:53       [Reply]  [No Email]
Which one?

'Carbine' is 'any short barreled rifle', usually in the 18 inch length range...

Marlin still makes the 1894 'Carbine' in either blue or stainless...

If you are talking about the Ruger semi-auto, then the answer is yes...

Watch for a used if you want to go that route...Just have to have it shipped to an FFL near you...Usually figure $25 for shipping and $25 for your local FFL to receive it...

I've always been fascinated by them lil autos and derringers,In .22&.25 I've had Jennings,Taurus,Sterling, and several others. In the .22s,the secret is to find a load they like. They are so critically dependent on recoil and pressure that they easily jam.I've had a couple literally given to me because of jamming, only to find that if clean, they're just fine w/Yellow Jackets or such but won't cycle more'n 2-3 times w/cheap ammo.In derringers I've had.22s,32,38s/357,22mag and a .41/.410 which IS a nasty handful. This Minx is a 22 short, nut much of a huntin gun :)

I know exactly what you are saying about the little .22's...They can be finicky...

I wanted one of the 'Alaskan Survival' American Derringer...I just looked it up for the first time ine more than a decade...I think I'll wait till the prices come down LMAO...

M445-70ST .45-70 Both Barrels $585.00

Another link...    Posted 12-02-2004 at 14:14:19       [Reply]  [No Email]
I thought the MSRP on that page I linked was a tad high...Below is a link to a auction for alot less and comes NIB with a scope and rings...

There is alos a miss-identidified 'deerfield' for about $100 less...It is a Ruger also, but is not the semi-auto, but is a lever...

My Wife has a Marlin 1894 in blue that I just love...One sweet shooter...
