Apparently the influx of cheap Mexican
asparagus is driving down the price on the
californy stuff. We've been buying it for around
$1 a pound. Good stuff too, clean and tasty,
not bitter at all.
We've been putting it in a pan and coating with
olive oil, just a bit and then roll 'em around in
it, a little salt and pepper and then put in the
oven at 500 degrees for a couple minutes.
When the weather gets a little more
consistantly nice I'll be pulling out the charcoal
grill and I'll put some on there just as the
steaks get done too...

I don't buy it cause there's an 80 ft row of it in the garden. We get sick of it about two months into Spring (now, in Central Tx). Reason for this response, tho, is that your method of cooking it is the same as what we like best. A little olive oil and some Sea Salt, then bake. Yummy! After awhile, good alternatives are asparagus soup, asparagus stir fry, asparagus spagetti, and just steamed.

We have asparagus.

That sounds about right, you can get 2 of our bucks for one of your green backs...we run about 2 bucks a pound around here.
