WANNA MAKE SOMEONE'S CHRISTMAS?

RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM A FRIEND LAST NIGHT. THOUGHT THIS BOARD WOULD BE THE PLACE TO GET THINGS GOING. WANNA SEND THIS BRAVE YOUNG WOMAN A CHRISTMAS CARD?

Hello Friends,
Would anyone out there like to send my little girl a Christmas card? Any
type of reminder of home is ALWAYS appreciated. If you have the time or
inclination to send her a card or note, it has to go NOW to get to her by
Christmas.

Last night on the news, it showed where several more American soldiers were
injured and two more American soldiers were killed in a convoy bombing
attack in the town of Tikrit. That is only 5 minutes from her base
(Speicher) and the town of Tikrit is where she does a lot of work. The
past two weeks she has been going up north to within minutes of Birjing
(spelling ?) and working up there 7 days a week, 14 hours a day. They are
sleeping in tents and sleeping bags on the ground there. It gets down close
to freezing every night. They convoy back to Speicher every 4 days or so to
shower and do laundry. (yes, they all smell pretty bad)

Well there were heavy attacks in that town yesterday too! She has to
convoy, or travel with their vehicles to these places and that is where most
of the attacks seem to take place. At this time, she is "supposed" to be
home by March 1st, 2005. Of course she always sugar coats everything she
tells me so that I don't worry, but I still do. I keep reminding her that
as the Mom, it is my job to worry. I'm just really really good at it.

Thanks so much for your continued kind thoughts and wishes.
Your friend, Becky

Willco. Gan she have packages? My daughter is in the Navy but at home right now. I would love to send your daughter home make brownies and handy wipes as I heard they are valuable commodites there. My Greatgrandfahter was in the Civil war, both of my grandfahters were in WW I my Dad was in WW2 and I got some of Viet Nammn. So my daughter is the 5 generation to ambel off to war. I am also impressed that so many females are now picking up the torch and taking the fight to freedom in our behalf. The pride I feel for our military can not be explained as there is such a tradition of men and women that do their duty and get no thanks in return.
