How far north are the morels popping up? We finally got enough moisture, now some warmth would be nice,,,,, there is no such thing as global warming in the Lake Superior weathershed.

They are done here in north central Missouri, or at least the grass and brush is too high to see them. Wasn't a good season, started out dry then got wet and cool.

Martha Stewart just did a segment today 5-14-02
on morel hunting in Michigan. Up there, she said
is the white morel found under white ash trees
often. This particular segment, they were searching under white ash, maples, and elms.
The guy said to look under the south side of the
tree as they do need some warmth of the sun to
grow. Didn't know that!
