What words of advice would you give to those of us who are just starting to walk in the paths that you laid? Would you do anything different? Would you do anything the same?

Don't covet anything of your neighbors or friends except their friendship.

WEll I don't know if 49 is twilight but I have learned alot of hard lessons...Try not to go into debt...Do not mortage your home if it is paid for...Try to get to where you are self reliant...it is coming times you will need to be...Don't drink or eat too much...moderation in everything...If you smoke...quit...and wait until you are ask for advice before you give it..lol..KAtG

First off, take time to get to really know that person you plan to spend the rest of your life with, don't try to change them, too many of my gal friends tried to do this with hubbies, and ended up divorced.

Definitely.......learn to cook, and make sure your lifemate can cook...at least boil water.
Be considerate, never go to bed mad/angry.
Be loving and respectful, given and received it will last you forever.
Hugs and kisses last a lifetime, thank yous too.
Bend a little, give a little...reap alot. Good luck.

Make sure you marry your best friend, she'll put up with alot.
Kissin don't last, cookin do!
When you buy that first truck, don't give your girlfriend the check book and tell her to be sure to make the truck payments.
A Mack, tri-axle, won't outrun the re-po man's corvette,,,, sighhhhhhh
Oh yeah, Marry your best friend, she'll put up with alot.

Don't get so wrapped up in making a living that you forget to live. You really should 'stop and smell the flowers', and enjoy the family without expecting perfection.. cause perfection probably ain't gonna happen. Make lots of good memories, and talk about them through the years, so the memories stay strong. Someday, the old eyes may go, and the legs won't work so good, but the memories can be like a good book to enjoy along with a great cup of coffee.

too soon oldt and too late schnart.treat everyone the way you want to be treated.
love your family all of them
do things as you want to don't put them off
smile and laugh whrn ever you can
if in trouble do not be afraid to ask for help from family and friends ( MY PROBLEM I THOUGHT I COULD DO IT MYSELF)
believe in the supreme being whatever it is
don't get old

There you go. That's the type of response I was looking for. It's one thing to learn on your own but it's a whole lot better if you can learn by watching and listening to others.

HAPPY TRACKS
I know that you've heard people say, many, many times,
"You don't pass through this world but once.
You get yours. And I'll get mine."
But I've got a philosophy I believe I'd rather go by.
And if you'll just listen, you may want to give it a try.
Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS as you go down Life's Road.
Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS everywhere you go! Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS. And keep this in mind:
"Others will have to follow in the path you leave behind."

As you walk the tangled Streets of Life, notice your fellow man.
And when he gets in trouble, lend him a helping hand.
Sow goods seeds in your Fields of Life as you go along.
Let others reap your happiness a long time after you're gone.
Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS as you go down Life's Road.
Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS everywhere you go! Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS. And keep this in mind:
"Others will have to follow in the path you leave behind."
Don't ever use a good friend for a personal gain.
To gain wealth and lose one's friend would only be in vain.
Let your HAPPY TRACKS BE MANY! Leave them everywhere you go!
Others will have to harvest each and every seed you sow.
Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS as you go down Life's Road.
Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS everywhere you go! Leave a lot of HAPPY TRACKS.
And keep this in mind: "Others will have to follow in the path you leave behind.
