Of all the places for this to come out, I never expected to hear it hailing from TX. Which brings me to my point.
Every day we see this kind of thing in the national news. While I think this has more national merit than the Scott Peterson trial, I really think the problem (in this case) lies in Plano, and with it's residents and voters.
I think it's time for the local residents to take a stand in a case like this, and either defend it, and tell the national news to butt out, or reject it, recall the school board, and run candidates who are like minded with the majority of the local population. If they can't find a candidate, then become a candidate.
Either way it comes down, it should be handled in Plano first, not the state courts, not the supreme court. Just have the back bone to step up and say, "If elected we'll have a Holiday celebration, that celebrates, Chanuka, Christmas, Kwanzza, Ramadan, and what ever else we wanna celebrate, or If elected, there will be no Holiday celebration!" Either way is fine so long as it satisfies the wishes of the local public.
OK I'm done ranting, heres the Link! Ron

the school board banned it - the school board was elected by public vote - therefore the residents of plano want it this way. you're right - beyond the whole town's a buncha bigots, there is no story. but they better not start dreaming of a white christmas, that'd be too far! (can we get clear paper plates?) aw my black christian kids don't hafta live there, what do i care? :)
