Carol was walking the dogs today and one of those Marmonts that has been bugging the dogs just on the other side of the fence did not make it to his hole in time! Seems like both of the Newfs got to it at the same time and each got there haft. Herc ate his haft and Kodi covered his haft but Herc found it as he allways dose. He skipped diner to night and only had his desert Cookies and Milk. Only about 99 more to go. Mark H.

We all call them groundhogs or woodchucks....
The little fellers we call pocket gophers, think their real name is the Thirteen stripe ground squirrel...And NO we don't eat them...

Because I live in a high area they are called Marmonts ain't no pocket squirrel either they weight between 20 and 25+ lbs when grown up. They look like a ground hog to but more silvery two toned with brown and tans colors. We have tons of them and they need to be thined out some. Mark H.

Those drumb sticks were ate in a flash by Herc. This is the first time he caught something and ate it. I guess he is grown up now! Mark H.

Out west here we call the marmots "Rock chucks" and we call the little prarie dogs "Sage rats". The marmots are bigger almost like a badger while the sage rats are only about as big as a squirrel.
The sage rats make for more interesting target practice.
