Hi cowgirl, Ron/PA..and all the friends of KL and Tales!

Just came back home from my dad's; he had a nice party going! but Gerrit is tired, and I felt like home too. My daughter stayed with my dad and brother and she's coming back later.

And, we are where we wanted to be..

You all have a very merry and happy New Year!:-}

If only everyone could understand that. Many people in other countries believe that they have freedoms. When asked if they can say anything against thier government, they usually will say that it is against the law. Our politicians are bad enough, but can you imagine what they would be like if they didn't have to worry about us speaking out publically?

Perhaps like France? Some censorship laws that protect politicians privacy- write a article about presidents mistress and go to jail, newspaper gets fined, editor can also go to jail. French politician funeral 1990 something had short note about mourners- long time misstress pictured, identified indirectly as such- reporter, photographer, editor jailed short time, paper had large fine. Also public demonstration articles can be suppressed /delayed for public safety- farm protests about Italian wines, McDonalds openings not printed at he time in french papers- german and english papers with headlines not allowed to be sold in french newsstands. TV ordered not to cover demonstrations. English 'D' notice to media restricts broadcast, printing for public decency , judicial procedings sometimes helps politician keep job. Politician, administrator, law enforcement orders restriction instead of judges tempory gag orders like here. English libel laws against media - plaintiff doesn't have to prove malice or criminal intent like US, show false statement and media has to prove it was not negligent or pay up. Westmorland law suit here was noted as good under english law as media stories were shown to be false, problem was he couldn't prove intent or malice, lost case. Politicians writing laws to protect themselves when no constitutional restrictions to stop them. Democrats seem to like socialist laws for extra power to pick on people, seem to hate Fox News stories that show the truth about the politicians record. RN

Freedom of speach is one thing that is entrenched in our constition here in Canada, along with a reasonably good health care system, that does not allow the ranch to be sold for hospitalization or treatment of ailments...... have a very good new year, all...R.E.L.
