checking in and looking over the post. I noticed a lot of talk about tipping and thought I would pass on something a friend of mine who worked the register in a restaraunt once told me. When you get that little piece of paper reffered to as a cheque they are required to total up the reciepts by waitress and add a percentage for tips and turn it in as earnings and they pay taxes on that amount. Some people I know will leave a tip even though service was lousy because they don't want to be embarassed. I figure since I ain't going back if the sevice was lousy they ain't gonna be no embarassment for me.

Sid, I'm like you, I always leave a tip. And, the amount I leave is in direct proportion to the quality of service I receive. When the service is good I am generous. But, when it's not I purposely leave a few pennies on the table. That way, there can be no doubt as to my intent. ...gfp
