generally someone who works hard, helps a neighbor, takes pride in keeping things afloat,
and has had his/her share of sunburns and wind chafe.

rednecks sow, cultivate, and harvest. they plumb, bend tin, pull wire, cut wood, skreed crete, roof, grade, dig, form, set, haul, pour, pull, push, and every so often pray.

never heard of one thats hit a woman stevie boy, thats what a redneck calls a coward.

mud - whose neck in dam sure red.

the original meaning of redneck referred to farmers; as they earned their living outdoors, hence a red neck.
the modern term redneck generally refers to someone from the south who sports a mullet haircut, has a confederate flag displayed somewhere on body or p/u truck and is tattooed and thinks that james earl ray was innocent.

Hmmmmm, I'm from the South. What's a mullet haircut? Does knowing the REAL history of the flag count instead of what some limp wristed hollywood maggot said? Been watching Jerry Springer again huh.

I'd like to think that most on here are real Rednecks. The rest are either trying hard to get there or don't have a clue.

Why are you being insulting and confrontational? Take it easy, for crying out loud. Also, most of my family could be counted as rednecks... many of my friends... and the odds are, that generalized statement you just made would be laughed at hysterically by all of 'em.
"Most rednecks like to slap their women around" fits right in with "Most black people are violent," "Most Mexicans are perverts," "Most women are stupid," and so on.
Don't for a moment confuse an ignorant generalization with a logical, factual supporting statement. It never will be one.
And FYI: Most people with an agenda never stop to think out their arguments; this is what undermines their credibility and annoys others who might like to have an intelligent conversation with said agenda-bearer, if they could keep their wits about them and use logic, not emotion, as their technique.

We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up. Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of. I hope I am one of those. If you feel the same, pass this on to your redneck friends. Y'all know who ya are...

You might be a redneck if. . .

It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase,
"One nation, under God. . "

You've never protested about seeing the
10 Commandments posted in public places.

You still say "Christmas" instead of "Winter Festival."

You bow your head when someone prays.

You stand and place your hand over your heart when
they play the National Anthem.

You treat Viet Nam vets with great respect, and always have.

You've never burned an American flag.

You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say
so, no matter who is listening.

You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the

You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

God Bless the USA, God bless you and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I think it is more a location thing than degrees...

'Rednecks' around here proudly call themselves 'Woodchuck', but it can also be used as a slur by other people...

I think you are either a neck and proud of it, or you are a neck and ashamed of it, or you aint a neck...If you aint a neck of some colour, chances are that I probably won't spend much quality time with you ;-)
