went into hosp. on a Wed. morning, doc done a scope on knee to see if he could save an operation. No such luck. Put in a partial knee joint on the innner side of the knee. Got out fri afternoon. no fun being in there. PT was just here, said I had to learn to walk all over again cause I was walking wrong for so long. Got to use a walker for maybe a month, and do some exercises. At least the pain I had is gone, thankful for that. Sure got a new respect for Dead carp with all his problems. I know one thing, not gonna blade any snow this winter,

yeah there's thing better done by somebody else. but they're drudge work anyway.
tell ya what - i saw my granddaughter today, she crawled on my lap and told me how warm her blanket is, and beamed at me & smiled. smile like that'll make ya cry, i don't care what you've crawled thru. she has a hero too, buck, her big brother (he just turned 3, she's 6 months). he gets all floppy and rolls her outa bed (it's on the floor) and she just crawls back in and hugs him. boy, some lucky guy in 20 years ..... now that kinda stuff's worth some time. :)
ret, watch for recovery clues - they'll come. and if anything for any reason moves something, that's your walkin ticket. the big thing is
:::::::if it can move at all, it's yours.:::::::: i've patched new nerve routes thru tickle spots, yawny stretches, prancin girlies, don't matter whatever they need to fire, i'm listening. working on strengthening the last 2 big muscles, and i know what lights them up. :)

Congratulations REt. Hope you get a lot of milage out of the new joint.

I have an appointment with an Orthopedic Surgeon on Monday. My problem is a little tougher to deal with. I have a bone spur in my calf that's causing a lot of swelling, inflamation and pain. Don't knoow which way we will go with it but, it's a bummer.........gfp

ret, I got a new hip 7 weeks ago today. Best $45,000 my insurance company ever spent. I guess I didn't realize what bad shape I was in. After you get over the pain of the surgery and get your joint limbered up, you'll be like me and just want to go out and walk all the time just for the fun of it. I'm planning to go down to Florida in Febuary to the big tractor show just to show myself I'm back amongst the mostly normal. Looking forward to getting back in the shop, back in the garden, back on the tractor, and maybe even back in the chicken coop. Best of luck to you. Jim.

I can testify as to how well Bernie is able to function with his new hardware. I'm sure his advice to you is good.
This picture of Bernie was taken at my tractor show last summer as he was trying out an updated version of the Essex Tri-Directional.

I had a total knee a year and a month ago today. I got more done with less pain this past summer than in years. Ya GOTTA do the therapy tho. I know a guy that didn't and can't even get 90 degrees bend. I can't squat but I can bend way tighter than 90. Only thing is I have to kneel on something soft.

Bernie you probly already have your favorite pad for kneeling but if you did'nt already know it here's something that works fine.

Best Buy and I guess any electronics joint sells an extra thick mouse pad. Take that mouse pad and cut it in 1/2 so it will fit in a hip pocket and it's always around handy.

It won't take in water or oil and cleans back up with a soap and water if you're around greasy tractors and equipment kneeling to piddle.
