Thanks for asking. I ended up paying half, which was $960.00. $220.00 for parts, $1700.00 for labor... (if I did the math right, I am worse at math than mechanics).
I posted about it - after all of that, they didn't change the oil filter! I can do a tune up & that's about it, I'm not mechanically inclined but even I can figure out that you don't take apart an engine, replace the main bearings, put it all back together and refill with new oil but don't change the oil filter??! The mechanic said the filter "looked good" (it had 1500 miles on it) and the engine was very clean, and no metal came off the bearings. Doh! I am way too busy these days to pay enough attention, I ought to have asked for the old parts back. I used to be more on top of it, I always asked the shops to return to me the old parts when they claimed replacement is necessary...
The truck is running great now, so I am happy about that!
