There sure is a lot of homes on the news going into rivers! I hope all you folks out there are OK! Wind and cold sure is petty stuff compaired to having your home go under Mud or falling into a River is horible. Mark H.

This might get more interesting... lots of flooding and tonight in these parts it's suppose to get down in the teens. Can you imagine your house surrounded with ice?

In MO we have some flooding but nothing like the other places. Just a nuisance but two of the three direct roads I can take to get to work are flooded, so I have to drive an extra 15 or so miles.

in spring the snowmelt used to flood grampa's corner & it was nuthin to trade cars for a trip to town. you'd drive up to the puddle, uncle would bring a boat so everybdy could get their cream cans across, by then there was a car on the other side waiting to borrow yours. :)

"sure help yerself, take the wife & kids if you like! oh and you probly need this shotgun barrel and a nice crotchful of salt more than most people! anytime yup, glad to oblige!":)

just bend over backwards helpful, them folks!

I can't believe there are people stupid enough to build or buy homes in places where anyone with common sense know this is going to happen sometime. And then MY government buying them out, that really boils my biscuts. Stupidity should cost and hurt, that's how people learn better.

Oliver, you are reading my mind and preaching to the choir. I've been thinking the same thing.

Around here, there are flood plain maps that will show you the historical data from past floods, yet people want to build there anyhow. There are ordinances that prohibit building in some flood plains, otherwise they would be covered with half-million dollar mansions.

Those homes in California were told of the dangers yet they still lived there? Now they are talking about having the mountian moved?? I was watching people jump out of there cars because they were sliding slowly on ice getting ready to hit another car! Seems the gean pool is not thinning them out yet!! Then the guy allmost gets hit by the next car while he is laying in the road?? Mark H.

We have been having flooding for about a week now. I live on an inland lake and it floods. The government has bought out just about everyone who lived in the flood zone..there are just a few people left there. I live high on the hill well above the water..but it is nothing to see the ducks swimming in everyones yards and people rowing to get to their homes..
