it hit 37 below last nite so everything's tested in this weather - we ran out of propane about 2 am so i stayed up and fed the trash burner til sunup. water's all froze up but i propped the cellar door so hopefully we'll hear a hiss and see where it froze. you know that cpvc takes a lotta crap to leak.

i still have dad's splitting axe from years ago - he loved to split wood in snappy cold and by god it must have been that day cuz he gave a swing and the axe blade snapped off a piece like a clam shell, turned his blade into a big staple. :)

oh give me a home
where the buffalo roam,
where it's bitter frigid
bout half of the time

where seldom is heard
a discouraging word,
and you think about ft lauderdale
too much to even bother rhyming
simple crap like this!

is cabin fever warm?

but did you try pouring hot water on the tank?
Cold as it was the propane might need some
help vaporizing.

well we got the tank filled, then i twiddled the pilot all day, finally a pro came out and adjusted it right, stays lit now. maybe if i charged $45, it'd work too. tomorrow i'll thaw the cellar, see what that costs.:)

oops, yer. there now the grammar cops will approve. :)

Hay I know how you feel. I live in the fridged north of Minnesota. Got down to 27 below zero last night. Have not been above zero for the last 4 days. Frost bite falls Minnesota. I still love the four seasons and the fishing. Yes even icefishing in a Ice House.

Here in NH, we call them bobhouses. An ice house is where you store the ice you cut out of the lake in the winter for use in the summer.
Take a look at the link below. Scroll down to the second story. That unit is quite something. He has all the comforts of home.

Speaking of axes........    Posted 01-16-2005 at 13:51:54       [Reply]  [No Email]
I have my grandfather's ax. That old ax has been in the family for 3 generations.......through the years it's had 4 new handles and 2 replacement heads, but other than that it's all original!!

Hey deadcarp. I hope you thaw out soon. We have cold in MO but nothing like that. Can you boil snow (like with electric burners)? Can you get out to get bottled water? Hang in there.

I been in and out of the house all day doing chores, chasing materials, a quick trip to Home Disposable, and right now my ashes getting warmed up to meet this evening's chores head on, after I do a bit of scribing for more shop saw cuts.
