You want a Friday grouch? Ok.

Now that Dubya son of CIA-director Bush has been inaugurated and the Republicans have a mandate from 48% of the 60% of those eligible who bothered to vote high on the list is "fixing" Social Security. What's their great plan? Why, it's to do away with the automatic payroll deduction and have people manage their own retirement funds. With the increasing texanization of the public school systems will somebody explain to me how Mr. & Mrs. Joe Average are going to plan for their Golden Years? These are the people who skated through the increasingly dumbed down public school system and work on the line for a little above poverty wages because Walmart has sent all the jobs to China. They're going to take that extra $7 out of their paycheck and spend it on foolish things like food, clothing, shelter. When they reach those Golden Years, I guess their children will just have to shoot 'em. Because the children will be in an even worse fix than the parents were.

I hear ya, Dig. I can't believe Dubya would expect the average US citizen to have sense enough to manage their own retirement funds.

Dug, who is scared to death that he may have to make a decision on managing his own money!
