How far above the ground do you actually own and what about going the other way?

I don't know about how high you own, but most municipalities have regulations as to how high you can build, or erect anything. I think there's even some federal guidelines.
As for going down, I don't know either, but mineral rights come into play. If you don't own mineral rights you don't own much goin down.

When I studied Real Estate, the law was you own the space above your land for infinity.

except for flying, i never needed any air above 100 feet up & never needed any ground deeper than a well. they can have the minerals if they're anal about it. :)

I dont know about where live but in the state of Ga you own as far down as you can go but the law has not dertermined how far up yet. But i would think not very far.James

Reminds me several years ago a guy tied a bunch of weather balloons to a lawn chair, took along a pellet gun and no doubt a parachute and was up, up and away. Way up there he was seen by airline pilots who did double takes! (wouldn't it be something sitting there in your lawn chair watching planes go by) Back safely on the ground he was hit with some kind of fine. Recently on Mythbusters tv show they re-enacted that, but kept it on a tether.
