I just finished reading DeadCarps response below about the Iraqi elections. And, I must confess, I never imagined the arab press would give out such positive accounts of the upcoming election. Except for Fox News, all we get here is the downside of everything that's reported.

Now, I've always been under the impression that the insergants that's trying to block the elections are not all influenced by their radical ideaology. Some are, but the higher ups are motivated by that common motivator, money. And, I can see how many rulers of countries in the region could fall from power if democracy ever succeded in Iraq. So........, I'm thinking, they, (The kings), are scared of the domino effect and therefore, are putting up the capital. JMHO..gfp

Don't over analyze it. They are just plain evil and need good ol' fashioned Marine justice!

I agree, and I've always thought it was obvious that was the reason we went into Iraq. Iraq was ripe for reform, the people fairly well educated. If democracy (in whatever form the Iraqi people choose) can take hold there, it's much easier for it to spread to Iran, Syria, and eventually to Saudi Arabia. If democracy takes hold, the standard of living should rise and hopefully they won't see Israel as such a threat.

People, I speak with many Arabs, and most of them really hate us.for no good reason...They are very suspicious about us and our power. We are the most powerful nation on earth and I for one think it is a good thing, because at heart Americans are good hearted people and want to do the right thing. I believe in the Union , God and love of Country and I also believe in my Southern heritage and am not ashamed of it.

so says Pict, wife of the Yankee Oslo

I lived among the arabs more or less back in 1943 to 1945 and the common (regular) arabs were the same as common (regular) americans. Different religion yes, and you have radicals amongst them same as here in the states. I think WE are paying a heavy price BUT I think the majority of them are happy we are there. Hopefully we can get out quicker than they are saying.
