It sure would be great if throughout this country that yesterdays tractors the owners of this site could help organize gatherings of the folks who emessage on here.
I myself would find it a great learning, and other experience.
Here's hoping.

Luke, if you look around some of the other boards on this site you'll find there are quite a few of these meet and greet sessions going on.
Over on the N board, there's Steak partys in NY, weekend get togethers in Washington state, and hooters wing nights in the mid west. The talers have quite a few bashes each year. The Farmall boys have red power roundup, and other red gatherings.
Personally I've met quite a few folks from Canada, to Puerto Rico, From California to Maine. I've only met a few, and I've talked to lots on the phone. We received flowers for a death in the family, and Gotten gifts that money couldn't buy.
There's a small splinter group that split off of this board, and you can't go very long without posting before someone calls to see if you have 'puter trouble or there's a real problem.
One fellow offered to drive 90 miles in an upstate NY blizzard to check on my Mother in Law.
I usta attend a Sunday morning gathering of Lodge folks, back when Compuserve had some great chats. We planned one get together, and a couple came over from the Netherlands to attend.
Just poke around this site, and you'll soon discover all sorts of new friends that may never be met face to face.

well maybe start a gathering place. i had a "coffee shop" chat room when msn got unreliable - and made a scrapbook as a kinda signpost. don't keep it up anymore but it's still online.

Well that reads as an excellent idea, only thing I was hoping more for a eyeball to eyeball real life gathering.
I love to travel and see new ways of living.
Besides on here you cant see a persons expressions whether they are being silly,"pulling your leg" otherwise known as joking,or whether they are serious, its just so much better to get out and meet different types of people.

can select/pursue if you want to - most posters like to play it safe by keeping whoever's on the net on the net - avoid a ton of potential hassles. they avoid using their last names - netiquette stuff like that. i've been online 5 years, only met 3 posters but i feel closer and more free to discuss here than with most on the street. except old war brothers - i feel you don't get any closer than that. :)

I wouldnt know about the war bros.,I do believe in ppl 2 ppl interaction being social ya' know, and seeing first hand how other people live, understanding their cultural ways, hearing their folk tales first hand, and so much more including shaking the hand of real person/friend.
Finding similarities not divides that before was not ever thought to be.
This message board is great when Iam not on the road when Iam here in the rurals at one of my getaways, otherwise I enjoy people in the flesh.
I mean hec we're not here for very long then we're gone for a very long time.
I suppose the war bros. I understand from a different point I have my lodge bros, and my lea,& fop bros. I chat with on the net.
Ive gone to a number of 'chat' parties found many new friends,no hassles yet.

Can't say I totaly agree with ya DC, on the avoiding to use proper names.....the only reason I use a "handle" and no e-mail addy, is to avoid a whole sack full of spam in my mailbox. Any one who wants my addy, from here, can have it, which many do....have made some mighty close friends, from this site, and, have met a couple in person, too. A face to face encounter would be great, I do however, have reservations....... have a good one, R.E.L.

As you - and many others - know, I use my real ( first ) name as a handle. People who want to email me know where to find me.

I agree fully with Ron/PA. We've made a lot of good friends here! One day we'll make our USA/Canada trip in a motorhome. The list of people to visit is growing!

For Luke: just stick around ( and behave! ) - you'll se that you'll become part of a fine group of people.
