our township had one traffic lite. today we have six lites, banks are open sat. and sun. as are the grocery stores, (most everything else too) plus we have about half a dozen pizza joints. (none in 68)
some call it progress........

n '68 there was 1 full service service station(remember them?) 1 general store 2 auto repair shops and 1 hardware store beside the post office and city hall. now no full service stations, but plenty of self serve gas stations probably 20 cafes or other eaterys 2 large major grocery stores several churchs a slew of hair dressers and lots of other assorted business. n '68 there was no traffic lights and now there are 5 and 2 more coming soon. arrrggghhh... and they call this progress? what happened to the small country town? it is now been taken over by the "outsiders". Population in '68 was about 200 and now the town sign says 1111.

After 12:00 noon Sat. to 8:am Monday the only thing open around here is a grocery store and Casey's which is a convenience store.
Oops, about forgot the Dollar store. I think its open weekends, never go there.

socialism is my gripe - the gubmint feeds us: the students are kept in school on lunch breaks, nursing home feeds its own, senior center sells $2 lunches. besides that, we have 2 cafes, gas stations are half food and there's the 24-hour grocery store right? now what kinda cafe were you planning & who are your customers? oh don't try a campground, they're run by taxes too. wanna cut state trees? just sell drugs. :)

In '68 we had no traffic lights, today we've doubled that number. No banks, stores, pizza parlors, or coffee shops. We have however gained one beauty parlor, but we lost our Pepsi machine at the Borough hall,,, guess we're at break even. Now that the machine is gone, nothin is open on Sunday's

When I was a kid, we had 2 grocery stores in town and 4 places to buy gas (2 of them were the aforementioned stores). There were also 3 schools.
Now there are no grocery stores. Not even a convenience store. Can't buy gas without travelling 8 miles in one direction, 10 in the other. There is one school. Still no traffic lights.
And at least 10 times as many flatlanders bringing their attitudes and other ways with them from Massivetwoshutts, Rhode Island, Noo Yawk or one of them other places that flatlanders come from.
