As i've said befor i'm a retired cop...but now run a state daycare...taking in little ones that need a safe place to land when the parents are overwelmed with what life hands them. My husband and i are also foster parents and the two bedrooms in my home that still echo with the sounds of my sons as they grew up are now a nursery and a neutral bedroom for the next little one...many years ago our youngest son died at 15 months old...i started writing poetry to fill the empty thoughts helped me heal...i'll from time to time post some...i've had over 62 printed in local papers, some used for weddings, special events and things as word got around...hope you like them...i don't know sickem about farm life, city gal all the way here...but i do know family, kids, life, bad health, good luck and bad luck...i use what i know and put it to rymne...(ps, my spelling is terrible)....enjoy...Hollie
The Sitter
I'm called a baby sitter,
Yet "sit" i never do
Cause watching little children
Isn't easy I tell you.
I teach them how to share,
Not to shove or bite,
How to pick up toys
And not with others fight.
I've changed a million diapers,
Read a hundred storys too
I hand out hugs and kisses
Cause I take the place of you.
For watching little angels
I charge a simple fee,
If you think my job is easy,
Just try keeping up with me!

good one hollie - when i saw your picture you know what my first thought was? "give her a desk mike - she's a dispatcher." heh heh

i think my exMIL was the world's best babysitter - she always had 5 or 6 orphans around, and claimed they're fast minds - you just have to think faster than them. for example "get your jackets on now kids, we're gonna fill the woodbox, then we'll feed the puppies, then clean the kitchen and make potato soup for lunch. and if we have time this afternoon we'll walk to the cornerstore and get ice cream!" of course they tagged along & oh she had them in high gear..... :)
