I've been lurking here for a couple months and, enjoy most of it. Today with Gerrits age thing and newbies Hollie and Grandma I got a new appreciation of how neat this site is. Now if we could just get Cindi to tell some more stories it would be perfect. Nice day here in East Texas a little sun and warmer. Later.

whoooo HOOOOO!...i'm so impressed...thats a very nice thing to say...TV was boring tonight, so i thought i'd pop in and see what the topics where and lo and behold i'm being talked about...and GOOD TOO! (THANKS TO THE CHAT GODS..)i can see i'm gonna need a notebook for a while...keeping track of who is who, where from and how old(LOL)...but it's lights out early here...hubby has day 2 of winter fire school tomorrow...(would appear to me its just a legal way for a bunch of little boys (ahem-MEN) to get away from us fillys and talk shop, fire, women, who gets it and who don't and how much money their women spend...but i love em....and maybe during all the bullpoo poo he'll learn how to keep himself safe...night ya'll...stay safe, warm and loved......Hollie

yeah them young fellers talk about who is getting it and the old ones talk about when we got it. Big-big difference 8^)

RN    Posted 02-04-2005 at 19:45:39       [Reply]  [No Email]
And the stories from both age groups can be creative.

Burrhead, I read your posting tractor talk/see president. Re- savings and loan Texas scandal, does the name Jim Wright ring a bell? Your chain gang reference and a couple previous postings- Sherrif giving you overnight housing or making you work off some misbehaviour time? Perhaps from making too many left turns? RN

Burrhead    Posted 02-04-2005 at 20:59:54       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yeah but it would'nt happen again. We got a good sheriff again now.

Jim Wright lost the election for Senate or Congress from New caney Tex. Just down the road but no I don't know his story.

Jim Wright incident? If i remember right (or Wright) he was head of banking commitee or judiciary that had some authority over bank examiners that wanted to close a lot of savings and loans for bad loans and other possible misconduct in Texas and Arizona area. Wright ordered the close notices held and pulled examiners off some savings and loans investigations- supposedly for legislative review. Officers of suspected shaky business got an extra 6 months to a year to skim federal gauranteed money, hide records, and make campaign contributions to him or other Democrats. John Glenn got induced to sit into hearings that delayed closings also by Wright. 'Silverado?' was one of the outfits that cost taxpayers a bit. Bank inspectors/examiners doing their job were block by mostly Democrat politicians who got book advance sales or campaign money as their share of skim and false loans. RN.

sounds about right. There was alot of state reps and the likes that got the *wink* from higher up too.

When it got to Scrub I don't remember if Bush1 was CIA or VP but he personally pulled the plug on check-ups of the boys.

Lots of good story tellers here. Newgen comes to mind. Deadcarp too. Willy N has in the past, fire stories when it's dry out there. Les will share a bit from time to time, and many, many others.
I could go on, but for the space alloowed and time on hand, I won't. Many good stories yet to be shared here. Many talanted, and experienced
folks with the gift of weaving a yarn, or spinning a memory.

I agree...    Posted 02-04-2005 at 17:07:41       [Reply]  [No Email]
