i was wondering something: we're all supposed to pitch in and help the poor right? material things should be shared with those who have none. help the tsunami victims get back on their feet. cure aids. wipe out hunger and just let the population explode. if part of the people did that, ultimately half the rich & poor alike would be online. but if we all did that, only the poor would have cable & hdtv. why do this dis-service to them? for self-advancement? didn't we start out shunning material goods? shouldn't we be congratulating the destitute instead of spreading our bad habits?:)

The old saying is "the poor you will always have with you". Some people can't manage one thing. Take for instance government housing projects. When it was handed to those people did they take care of it? If someone gives them an extra dollar what do they do with it? (the lottery is the poor man's tax?) In Indiana they have a $600,000,000 shortfall in the state budget. They're kicking the idea around to raise revenue with casinos. (BTW, if the economy is so good, why are so many states having budget problems?) Gambling to raise government money? What next?

uuuuhhhhh.... not sure, is my answer and not sure what your question was/is.LOL
I know when the population explodes somehow it will the USA's fault and our problem, too.
I know the world's poor is our fault.
I know the tsunami was, too.
World hunger is our fault, too, or the Jews.
Everything is either out fault or the Jews.
I dont know what the solution is.
I guess eliminate us and the Jews?

I know when I started out, as an adult (or at least thought I was one)
I had nothing but my clothes and a job.
I still dont have a lot but, what I have I worked for and earned it.
I suspect it means more to me than all the free stuff that is given out to the "poor".

Don't misunderstand, I DO give to charities I trust and I give cheerfully but,
I do believe the old fish adage.

Sorry if this was intended to be a fun post and I turned it into a serious one.
Your thinking just got me thinking, too. :-)

Lenore,

You have a way of stealing my thunder. Oh well, just keep speaking up and I'll reply with a simple "Ditto". (Now where have I heard that before?)

Thanks Dug.
That explains it!
I often wonder why my post seems to end a lot of discussions!
It usually makes me feel like I said something wrong!
Now you are telling me I said it all and the subject needs no further comment?
At least that is how I will take it,
I feel a little better now, I think. LOL

What you're saying is to give a hand UP, not a HANDOUT. I agree.
