Howdy ya'll....I live off a MAJOR!!! trucking highway and live on the top of a steep hill...now I know them trucks need to speed up a bit to get to the top of my hill but good lord I always pull over just at the bottom of the hill and let the trucks pass me iffin any are behind me cause iffin I dont fer sure they gonna run right over me...only 2 lanes[north/south/] and being on top of the hill I have to wait a minute and look towards the top of the next hill to know iffin any traffic is coming towards me before I can turn into my driveway.....we have atleast 2 trucks a month jackknife on the turn...so far in my community of 711 that includes the cows we have lost 12 foks so far this year!...This is also a factor in how my son was killed....not totally the truck drivers fault as the other driver[the car my son was a passanger in]had fault also.....but I do believe that if that big rig wasnt going so fats them boys could have had a chance to put the car in a ditch rather then under the truck.....I have been run off the road, tailed, passed by and nearly smashed into by these huge trucks....my 2nd oldest son has been hit 2 times by big rigs...thank god he didnt get hurt but his cars sure have...my youngest son and his friends were hit turning into my driveway and run into the trees! with god looking out fer them just the car was wrecked and minor injury....I swaer iffin i do over 55 and a rig is right in front of me doing 80...the cops will stop me instead of them...I dont get it...should put govners on them dang trucks i say!...dale anne

I also feel most truckers are godd drivers and I have traveled far and wide on the interstates.

If the local police won't do anything about the speeding and dangerous situation maybe. as a mother, that has lost a son in a truck/car accident, you could make a lot of noise thru a local TV station or local newspaper.

I don't normaly get on here but for this one i will the quality of today truck drivers are at the bottom of the barrel as i have driven trucks for 42 years and hauled mostly oversize and extra heavy loads all over 2/3rds of the country for the past 15 to 20 years we have had a amjor change in drivers ever since this new CDL deal came about and the lack of jobs in other fields and these socalled truckdriver schools . Most of the bigger companys already have there truck governed at 65 because the insurance companys make them and that is not the answer because we have total idiots behind the wheel . I was moving a oversize load under permit with all the blinky lite and signs flags what have you and had some idiot freight hauler tryen to pass me thru a construction zone where i was using both lanes to fit thru and by that littel pice of paper gave me the wright to do so or the other idiot that tryed to pass me thru the tunnels of the Pa. turnpike with a state patrol escort behind me . Most of us older drivers have common sence.

Yeah, we gotta do somethin about those trucks. How about no trucks on the road between 6AM and 6PM. They're killing us literally and figuratively.

Does that include Fire Trucks? How about keeping the Cars off between those hours and let the trucks have the road? I see WAY MORE Car wrecks then Truck Wrecks on the roads. Mark H.

i find that most truckers are well mannered ,safe drivers there are more nuts in cars that do stupid things but something the same size as you you can overlook some things, when them behemouths(SP)cause trouble it's big trouble,

For some reason on one of my trips cross country on my motorcycle a trucker thought it fun to go on the shoulder of the road and shoot rocks at me.
Thankfully I always had a huge fairng to hide behind.
Then again blasting across Texas one time at over 100 behind a trucker leading the way. Still took a long time to go across that state!

My county plays host to the biggest dump in NYS. Don't tell me about good truck drivers. Any yahoo that can finangle a CDL gets a piece of crap tractor and leases himself to one of the big brokers. Spend his days poundin 370 miles back and forth to the city and NJ haulin their crap to dump in my back yard. These things are rolling death. DOT actually built a turn off near the dump and has these bums lined up there day and night doing inspections. Some guy opened up shop right down the road putting bandaids on these wrecks to keep them rolling after Dot out of services them, hell of a business he built himself.
I used to be the loadmaster at a local Army base and you would not believe the number I turned away for one violation after another and I was quite leniant. The large national companies run pretty decent equipment but I think that if you were to randomlly sample ten trucks six of them would have something more than a technical violation.

I'm about 50 miles north in Seneca County with the Seneca Meadows landfill. Coincedently
" Roll-Over in Geneva"
A tractor trailer loaded with garbage flipped over on Route 14A in Geneva Tuesday morning near the entrance to the Tops Supermarket. Ontario County Sheriffs Deputies say the driver was pulling out of the parking lot from a nearby gas station when he hit the ditch and caused the accident. The driver was not injured.
