And Toolman, Clipper, DaleAnne, and a couple of others, thank you for the kind words.
I'm not having much fun here anymore, soI think I'd better go back to lurking.

I'm goint to jump in here with Mud and Toolman, and make an honest plea, that you put any thoughts you have about bowing out behind you. I think I speak for most of us when I say your posts provide enjoyable reading. So, hang with us for awhile longer. Your company is always welcome.....gfp

guess I lumped all the truckers in one pot,not really fair, but I was calling it as I see it here. I-95 here in Va is the only coastal artery going north south. It is a crowded interstate to say the least. Also, what doesn't help is the fact that Va. is the second most receiver of garbage in the nation from states up north. That brings thousands of trucks down here on a regular basis. I was not referring to the general truck on the road, just the big rigs. When an auto is going the speed limit or slightly over, who in their right mind in a massive rig would want to keep up with it or pass it. It can't stop or maneuver as an auto can. But, it happens on a regular basis. That is my gripe. You seem to be a nice guy, sorry I ruffled your feathers.

Yes sir - I95 is a fast road that gets slow really fast and stays that way 2X a day - the rush in and the rush out. Lived it, glad that is over.

Now, that I-81 has some of the fastest truck traffic I've ever driven in. Especially in SO.Va.
I delivered a crawler once, and a combine once both trips were too heavy traffic wise.

i think they need to stop and go back a bit and start using rail more and get some of these big rigs off the highways.

I typed a response, which is posted a ways back. I assume that you were speaking of my post, earlier. I read your post and liked it. This incident happened almost 40 years ago. You can give your opinion about the two truckers, good or bad, and the same with the cop, but it wasn't meant to imply that other truckers or cops are bad. My older brother is still a trucker and I like him a lot. I think I'll lurk a while also. I'm too old to give anyone here a difficult time.
Sorry, if I did.

I appreciate your kind words Toolman and James. I remember, painfully now, about what I used to say to my waitresses. "It's not what you say that matters, but rather what the customer thinks you said." I'm not communicating properly.

toolman    Posted 02-10-2005 at 16:35:01       [Reply]  [No Email]
