Our oldest dog Poe had cancer and she was really starting to have trouble getting around. She was one good dog! This was really hard. She did such a good job of keeping the ground hogs cleared out around the place. Makes for a tough morning.

Sorry about that ol' buddy. Just remember there are better days ahead and we will see them again.

Hey DR, I really feel for you! I remember the night I had to take our Shepherd and make the decision to let him go. Man, that was almost like having to pull the plug on one of the kids. It still hurts when I think about him. Go ahead and grieve over your loss, but it will pass and you'll be left with the memories of her.

So sorry you lost your best pal.

I admire you though for not allowing her to suffer. That was the ultimate act of love on your part and from your words she was a good dog and deserved the best.

God bless and comfort you and your family. I pray your good memories will lift your spirits.

Ah man, that makes for one sad day doesn't it? It is like losing a beloved family member. So sorry. Our pet love us unconditionally, and it is too bad people can't be the same way.

Know this gives you the saddest feeling too.

It never changes having done this more times than I can remember. It will allways hurt but remember it is your last act of love you can do for your best freind! I am glad you had the strength to do it and not cause the pain to go on longer. I hope someone will help do me in when it comes my time to go!! Mark H.

Oh, that is such a hard thing to do, but you did her a kindness. It's so hard to say goodbye to our good dog friends.

Sorry to hear of you losing a good bud. I hope your pain eases soon. Like I said before, it just isnt fair, they should live longer than they do.

I am sorry for your loss. It hurts. I know.
I'd rather shoot a bad man than a good dog.
Better days ahead,Dieselrider.
Quote me on this: I'd much rather kill a bad man than a good dog. Mark in Kansas

Thanks DD. Now I've got to go find something to do to occupy my mind for awhile. There are some apple trees that need trimming.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

Thank you t1, I used to not be much of a dog person but, the damn things muzzle their way into your heart and curl up right there. Then you're stuck with em. Did I tell ya she was a good dog?

Betty Oh    Posted 02-13-2005 at 07:15:26       [Reply]  [No Email]
My thoughts are with you. Know the feeling. If what the author unknown says, I will be deluged with animals when I cross over and also with babies. Gives someone something to look forward to. I hope there will be these reunions. Take care and if you get bored my apple trees need trimmed and also the grapes.

I know how bad this is, I had to put one down last july..but in time you will remember them with your stories...the stories ease the pain..the love you feel never goes away, the intensity of the pain does..
