Bluebird - What types of things do you paint? I paint a little, mainly landscapes. I'm not so hot, but am taking lessons. My favorite things to paint are usually fields and barns, stuff like that. Do you sell your work professionally, or is it a hobby? Have you ever heard of a painter named Nancy Noel? She paints Amish children. I love her work, she is my favorite. I'm into primatives and folk art too. Most of my home is done in primitives and Noel's work, along with my array of antique checkerboards, washboards, and old antique product signs, i.e., Coca-Cola, Arm and Hammer, Red Camel, Beechnut Chewing Tobacco, stuff like that. I love those old signs. Tell me a little about your work. I do like Aztec, but it Southwestern doesn't really go with this region. My fav pic is a painting I had a local do of a tobacco barn, and in the frame is a beautifully cured bottom leaf of tobacco, golden yellow. It MAKES the pic.

DW, I am just catching up with the KL board tonight. I am a professional artist and hang in galleries and do juried art shows around the state. Since I live here in the SW, my main paintings are of the region or people here. I have sold a lot of paintings to tourists who live back east however! They seem to like the Taos Indian pictures and SW subjects I do, like pottery still life, etc. I was asked to be Guest Artist in a neighboring town for this month; took 12 paintings over for sale and have sold five of those so it hasn't been bad. I have another showing and reception in another city, Silver City, in June so hope to do as well there. If you put in the work on your painting, you will achieve, so go for it!
