Yesterday during some tests it was determined that the baby was under stress and since it was going to be C-Section anyway they decided to deliver the baby.

Hayley Joan Moreland came into the world at 1:15 PM CST yesterday. I had to rush to ST. Louis from Columbia (120 miles) and I just missed them wheeling my daughter into the operating room. 10 minutes later my son-in-law called on his cell phone and we could hear her crying.

I got to hold her 15 minutes after she was born. All the pictures I have now are from before she was cleaned up. I will post some proper pictures as soon as I get them.

For the record, she weighed in at 10 lbs and 4 ozs. She is 21 inches long. She has a full head of thick dark brown hair. Hayley has, I am proud to say, a small dimple in her chin, just like her gradpa, her mom and her brother. I call it my quality control seal of approval!

Mother and daughter are doing well. They get to come home from the hospital on Sunday. I will be road tripping to STL on Saturday to see them again and again the following weekend.

Isn't life wonderful?

You done good. With the help of god and your daughter you grandpappyied a 10 pound 4 oz 21 inch baby girl. I don't blame you a bit for being proud. When my grandaughter was born I told my daughter in law the baby's beauty was all my doing.
