What is the update on that man that was caught in his basement and the gun powder, and plumbing fittings? Seems as though they had a plumbing leak? He handloaded?? His wife led a not too astute officer down into the basement to talk about an accident he witnessed? The officer grew suspicious and acted on ill gotten visual evidence and took the guy to jail? Wasn't the perp a boy scout leader, and outdoorsman, and goood credentials too boot? What is going on with that?

Well good news and bad. The fellow was charged and then released on his own recognizance with the condition that he not have any firearms or powder in his possession. The guy called his brother from the courthouse and asked the brother to get the guns and reloading stuff out of the house. So as brother was at the house cleaing out the stuff, the cops were standing over him like a hawk, just watching. I understand the State's attorney office and the guy's lawyer have pretty much agreed that this is a case of over-reaching police stupidity and the charges will be put on the stet docket. That means the charges are just there for a year, and if the guy stays out of trouble, they expire at the end of a year. In the mean time he can't have a gun or reloading equip in his possession.

So, he loses a years worth of hunting, plinking, loading? Why didn't they just drop the charges?
Wrongful arrest suit? Sure sounded like a nightmare when you first posted it. Thank you for the update. At least they can't take his fishin poles from him. A year from now he may be gearing up for spring gobbler. I wish the best of luck.
