My husband and I live in southern Oregon. We have begun to notice that some of the fir trees in this area are either looking really sickly or are dead and dying from the top down. Has anybody else in the northwest noticed this yet?
The trees start by looking really thin. The leader stops growing and they die from the top down. We have been unable to find anything wrong with the trees but they still die. Please let me know if it is a new disease going around that we haveen't heard about yet.

Thanks Barb

I live in Columbia MD and we are experiencing the same that. It seems to be the Bark Beetles. What can be done to stop the death of our fir trees and prevention of my other trees from dying ?

thanks, Matt

Get a hold of your State Forester. Sounds like it might be bark Bettles. Big problem in the Black Hills after a couple years of drought and fires.
