I saw that Strasburg had theirs this past weekend. Every weekend for the next 5 or 6 weeks there is a mud sale. (For those who don't know, a Mud Sale is an auction to raise money for the local firehalls/schools. Folks bring their crafts, quilts, plants, nursery stock, or just unwanted but useable items for sale or donation and line them up in a field. On the appointed day, usually a Saturday and before the spring plowing starts, a group of volunteer auctioneers auction the stuff off. Because the ground is just thawing out, folks are usually walking around in an inch or two of mud, Hence the name mud sale. When I was at Rawlinsville's sale two years ago, there were over 2,000 bidders registered. At our local sale, I saw a new quilt go for over $2,700.00. In the Amish areas, they often sell horses, mules and sometimes even cattle. There are usually several vendors selling different foods. I got an old John Deere hay rake for $50.00 and a NH baler for $100.00 at one last year.)

What a great idea! Especially this time of the year. LOL Thought at first they were selling MUD....we could make a killing!

Might be something to bring up at the community center meeting we are having this month. Been trying to think of something different to raise money for the fire dept and community center.

Thanks for the idea :0)

I had to run down to Elkton MD. over the weekend, decided to go down 897 'til I met a truck on 283 and he said they had the sale going on,,, went down through Lancaster and avoided it, but if I thought for one minute they would have had room to park my truck, Donna could have talked me into stopping on the way home.
