Old Coot    Posted 03-03-2005 at 19:08:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
I would like to thank you all for caring so much about this old coot...You all are some of the best people in the world....My intentions with the nazi items was to educate not teach evil...For some of the kids it may be the only time they are able to hold a piece of history in their hands and touch and feel history....Looking at pictures in the book just isnt the same...I plan on taking some legal action in this matter...I guess the guy that is doing all this graduated a few years ago from high school and is a army national guard flunky....Guess he felt like he needed to be a hero since he couldnt make it in the guards....Its really been bothering me because i enjoy showing my collection to others....Ive taked to a few other collectors that say they have encountered the same type of people....Its a shame...They are down on the nazis but they act like nazi storm troopers...Maybe they should stop and see who the real nazis are....Themselves.....

I read your post on this subject, didn't have time to reply at the time. I collect coins a little and have some ww-2 stuff, both allied and axis. I see nothing wrong with historical collections. Hated to hear of your experiance .

Mr.OC, I think you are doing the right thing too. Be a collector myself, I view items like you have in the historical realm not what they represent. I think the "hero" should be brought up to explain his actions.Dan in AB

After I had written my posts and had some time to think about what you had writen, I realized that that kid and you actually had the same goal in mind. That was to not let Matizism raise its ugly head again. You chose education. He chose Storm Trooper or Brown Shirt tactics. He chose to deal with Natizism in the same way that Hitler advocated. His tactics on you was to threaten you with violence in order for you to stop showing those, now, artifacts. It isn't any wonder that he couldn't get into the guard. Education will never let a Hitler raise his ugly head in this country, as long as we have educators such as you, you Old Coot.

By the way can't you get a better handle? he he. Naw, keep it. That name, on you, invokes a new meaning for me. When I call you Old Coot, I now am saying it with respect. You've earned it. I hope you continue with your lectures and demonstrations. I would advise alerting the police next time and certainly ask a few Vets to accompany you. You must also have a complaint on file at the police department.

Old Coot, good luck to you and I salute you.

i agree , keep on doing what you are doing, and thank you for doing it, i like oslo,s idea about asking a couple of vets to come along with you just might give that punk an education right quick that he won,t soon forget .lol

Times change but people don't Coot. They are as easy to to hoodwink now as any time in history. Not many thinkers around, and any there are don't get any more air time on the media than they did in 40's Germany.
Later Bob

And that is exactly what't wrong with the world today..not enough thinkers...scary, when you consider how much better technology (internet, etc) we have now for spreading propaganda than they did in Hitler's day........

Mr. O.C. I told my wife last night about your ordeal and she got mad as heck and she feels the same way as the rest of us do. Our thoughts are with you and may God bless you and keep you safe. Keep up the good work we need people like you in the world...
