Mike if you look carefully, it appears to be a hand that is sticking up out of the ground. I see it every morning when I head out to feed the critters and I always think of it as my helping hand. It is still in the ground, but alas it died a long time ago.

Looks like someone left over from the dust bowl days! A really interesting picture. I can just see the words "I'll give up farming when they pry my cold, dead fingers from the tractor's steering wheel".
