This is the first time I seen a Bat Hanging on the wall of our porch! I have seen them at night but not during the day. Mark H.

Our old schoolhouse here in town is now the firestation and a bat haven. You see them all over the place all the time but they scare ome gusy and about all the women silly. They won't hurt you unless you try to grab em and thats when you're likely to get bit. Just let him be and he'll be fine. Personally I love to watch em at dusk flying under the streetlights and above the surface of the ponds catching bugs. Best natural mosquito controllers around.

May be he stayed out partying too late and just passed out. Now that is what I would call a real hang-over!

I bet when it starts to get dark, he'll wake up and fly away.
When I was a kid, we had a water pail that I used for the hens that we kept upside down on the top of a post by the barnyard barway. One morning I grabbed the pail only to find that a bat had chosen to crawl up in there on the top of the post for the day. Gave me a mite of a start, it did.

It is sleeping above a porch light and the bugs are out at night. I will check on it at night time. Mark H.

I saw two come down the house wall, back on the farm. They where young ones and came out at different times. I think something happened to the mother and they got hungery. I put one in a box so it would be dark. Put some milk in there too, in a small coaster, it drank it, came up to the coaster and wraped it's wings around the edges to hold it. It didn't live long though, needed something else to eat I guess.
