Quitting the Tobacco Habit

EIEIO, and Scooterhead I may be joining you in giving up the smokes. I gave up cigarettes and switched to the little cigars before Christmas. I have cut back from the 4 pack a day habit to just over 2 in doing so, but still crave a smoke when I'm not busy doing something. Tommorrow IN has a new tax that takes effect raising the tax on smokes by .50 cents per pack which will mean my little cigars are over $2 per pack and the same cheap cigarettes will be over $3 per pack. I reckon the govt. is gonna force us non politically correct types to give em up one way or another.

Their not trying to make you quit, in fact they are betting you won't so they can milk more money out of you. It dosen't matter which party was in office I want to know where Indiana's huge surplus of three years ago went? Our attorney general said the oil companys were gouging us and our govener in his infinate wisdom took the sales tax off and now were broke and putting the screws to the comsumer any way they can to make up for the mistakes. Did I just vent?

Yep you vented Corny but I agree with everything you said. I am also scared since they say our property taxes are going to double next year. This state has really gotten terrible as far as taxes and what little our taxes actually support.

Well it's been a long time since I posted here but I'm going to try and join you folks in quitting, should have done it a long time ago considering I already have heart disease which they cannot tell exactly what caused it most likely because of several bad habit's, stress and illness and at 34 yr's old I think it's time to wake up and get serious about my health.

Gimpleg Fagon    Posted 06-30-2002 at 16:27:24       [Reply]  [Send Email]
EIEIO, there is nothing Jake and I would like to do more than to tell you of some of our adventures during the 5 years we served in the FFL. However we are still bound by French, British and International law concerning these events. I can tell you this though, It where we Gained our expertese in growing bananas and pineapples, rubber and camels. Jake is still refered to as the "Luther Burbank of Burma." His work in developing the famed Burmese Dingleberry is largely unknown in the western world. I wish I could tell you more.

Bob /Ont.    Posted 06-30-2002 at 21:12:36       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Hi Mr Hogman, try this email again and I'll send you your sunday instalment of pig story, Fenwick likes them. In the mean time put "pig saves owner" into your search engine and you should get a story from the Pittsburg Gazzette Post. You nodoubt heard a bit of the story that happened a few years ago, but the full story is very good. I looked it up this week and it was still there.
Enjoy the read.
Later Bob

Well, he's doing real good. His girl friend Naughty Fingers LaRue, made him give up them Algerian girlies. She owned the biggest massage parlor in Whitehorse and didn't like the competition. He still has four of them racing camels and they sure like Kansas a lot better than they liked the Yukon. They ran faster in the Yukon--I think maybe they was tryin to stay warm. Lots a people from all over are coming around to look at the banana crop. Some have said " why you can't grow bananas around here." Then they shake their heas and leave. Ol Jake just laughs. And yup, EIEIO, just like Hogman says, it's the gospel truth.

Gimpleg Fagon    Posted 06-30-2002 at 11:47:09       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Well, I'd join but ol Jake and me quit back in 1954 when we was in the French Foriegn Legion. We was in Indochina at the time, but that's another story.

EIEIO    Posted 06-30-2002 at 10:48:31       [Reply]  [No Email]
I sure hope you do. Cigarettes here cost me $32.00 to $36.00 a carton. That is really burning money not "having money to burn". I am just waiting for Scooterhead to come upon a date. Holy mackeral I just figured out how many years I have been smoking 42 years. I started in my mother's womb. I did not realize not only that I have smoked that long but that I am that old. Heck I feel about twenty or so, in fact it is always a surprise when I look in the mirror and see that face staring back - have no idea who it is.

Anyway, welcome aboard.
