Lime and Pigs

I would like to try to control the flies at our pig pen and I was wondering if putting lime on the ground will hurt the pigs? Will doing this help to control the fly population?
Thank you

I don't think lime would hurt pigs at all. I have a limestone gravel hill next to my pig pin and there's been no ill effect in the eight plus years. Also got a lot of gypson. Geologist was out about two weeks ago to antalize my gravel and told me that powdered gypson was about the best thing to put in a pig pen or feed lot to remove the smell. If you have gypson try it, if not lime would be alright.
