Briggs & STratton 4 HP has spark, air and seems to not be getting enough gas. Hard to start and I don't know what to check next...I don't know anything about this, but am trying to learn. Can anyone give me some help? Thanks.

I have a Kohler 27.5 hp lawn tractor. It will run when putting gas in the carb. I have disconnected the fuel line from the fuel filer and noticed that the fuel runs out of the fuel tank only when I force air through the fuel line to the tank. I have tried running the fuel line from the tank to the what I am thinking is the fuel pump. Still will not start. Again I take the fuel line off no gas flow. Spray air in the line to the tank the gas flows for a minite then it stops. Do I have a bad fuel pump?

if it is hard to start make sure it is fully choked to start.

you do this by pushing the throttle all the way forward.

Now the throttle may not move the control all the way forward, so look at the cable as it is moving. When you push it all the way forward, then push it with your hand the rest of the way forward

then try starting it - it should start rough then ease the throttle until it runs smoother...

or

check to see if there is a primer bulb - a small rubber button on the motor push it 8-9 before starting

later!

Thanks! (Has the bulb thing) ...nothing like asking other people for help to motivate husband to try and fix it! He sprayed ether in the hole and tweaked a spring until it began running and running faster too...now he's even sharpening the blade! Ahhh the joys of psychology! Thanks for all you're help! (Will let you know if it stays running!)

Disconnect the gas line at the carb and check for fuel flow into a clear glass jar.
Let the gas settle and look for contaminants such as rust, dirt or water.

Have you had the carb off and apart?
