Something to think about --

We all know strange things happen and we all have done something we wish we hadn't. Here's a what if:

What if a farm kid was target shooting with his new .22 in the grove one day, and he heard a hum or something got his attention. Down lands a spaceship, the ramp opens, some green-looking thing comes out and the boy panicked and shot the creature dead? Pretty likely possibility, no? "Maybe he ain't bigfoot, but i GOT him!"

And what if that landing was MEANT TO BE the Second Coming of Christ?

The Bible tells us that we are "made in His image" and I don't look like "some green looking thing". Do you?

The way I see it, death is the work of Satan, and thru His resurrection, Christ has proven that death has no hold over Him, so the kid could blast away all day with no damage.

Here's another thing to think about. Astronauts from earth travel to another planet and find intelligent life. Unlike Earth, the inhabitants of this planet did not eat of the forbidden fruit and thus have no original sin. The astronauts, even though they may be righteous and morally upright, would be the most evil things on that planet. Quite a quandary, I would think.

Well if he did kill him, all youd have to do was wait 3 days and he'd be back again!

Can't happen, Christ said he would return the same way he left, rising up into the clouds. I don't recall reading about any space ship in the Bible.

DeadCarp - clouds?    Posted 07-03-2002 at 08:33:22       [Reply]  [No Email]
rising up into the clouds? Well the shuttle does that, right? Without modern words like spaceship and UFO and quarks and astronauts, how could somebody in Biblical times describe a launch?
What do they mean by "star in the east" or so many other atmospheric anomolies?
I'm not saying this will happen - but what if?

Christ was specific about the manner of his return, "Floating Down from the Clouds" so we would know Him and not an antichrist or a flying sauser(sic) being mistaken for His return.

You may want to reread about Ezekials' Wheel...

God has things more in control than that?

I would hope so, but then you see Hitlers and Mansons and Osamas and wonder how much He likes to meddle. Often looks more like we're an experiment left to make our own mistakes, like an ant colony beside a road.

Yes, I wonder sometimes why--God would let bad
things happen, or evil people get away with stuff.
Feels like we are abandoned. And yet, I have
experienced what I call--spiritual moments, so
have doctors in operating rooms, etc., so
my belief is that we are spiritual beings--there is a spiritual realm afterwards.
Who God is--is still fuzzy to me. (My Sunday School and church taught me that we all have a choice.)
What I cannot figure out is, I am a Home Maker
and saw the interview of the reporter w/Osama way
before 9-11. I am never sure about going in and
assassinated another country's leader, but I
definitely said to myself then--This guy needs to be assasinated. (They claim there were many
attempts on his life--by his own, too bad they
didn't get the job done.) Another thing, I don't
understand is why, if our President's picture was
on the face of their target practices, why wasn't
every citizen of the U.S. informed of this enemy,
in the nightly newscast, instead of some Sunday
morning 1/2 broadcast. After the interview, I
believed in my FBI and CIA--they must already be on alert!
But if a spaceship landed, or anything else
arrives at our front door, we should see if it
is there to do us harm or good--before we pull the
trigger.

God gave man free choice to do good or evil,so bad things do happen because of the choice of fellow beings----

DeadCarp - find out first    Posted 07-03-2002 at 19:58:15       [Reply]  [No Email]
Now there's the difference - your Sunday School teacher offered you a choice, ours kept saying "Jesus is coming soon". The teacher died of old age, i'm old and He still ain't here -- guess i should have asked her to define "soon". As it is, she's a sterling excuse to take everybody with a grain of salt. heh heh

BTW, i think you summed it up best, "we should see if it is there to do us harm or good--before we pull the trigger." I hope all kids understand that and i'll tell ya why: Years ago my sister had been asked on a Saturday nite date with a gas-truck driver and he never showed. Of course, she was pretty hurt by the time we heard anything. I remember her cussing him and mumbling under her breath....
well, turned out, he had tried to make the date. He was driving the truck back between small towns and some drunk in a Thunderbird hit him head-on.
He was thrown from the cab, burning fuel all over him, and managed to put himself out and made it to a farmhouse with a porch lite on, and started pawing on the door. I guess he was a godawful sight. That was the county sheriff's house, and when the sheriff's wife opened the door and saw him, she took one look and slammed it again, ran got the pistol, threatened to shoot him and called her husband. Eventually he got to the hospital, but only lasted a few days. So things aren't always what they seem.....

Which shows that your Sunday School teacher was right, Jesus is coming back and you need to be ready.
