My kind of stock market

If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would
now be worth $49.00.
If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Miller Lite (the beer, not the stock) one
year ago, drank all the beer, then traded in the cans at a redemption center
for the nickel deposit, you would have $107.00.

Given the current conditions of the economy, my advice is to drink heavily
and recycle. ...Stolen from another site and posted here.

If you had $1000 to spare a year ago and did nothing with it, today you would have $1000, possibly slightly devalued due to inflation, but that applies to Nortel stock and Miller beer too.

...and yet if you left that thousand bucks sitting in Fidelity's Cash Reserve Money Market fund, you'de be earning a paltry 1.57% interest. Sure beats investing in the stock market?

What about doing some bottom fishing for some cheap stocks for sale? If I had money to spend in the stock market, I'de be buying SELECTIVELY.
